El Aroma del amor

February 14, 2019

Did you know that most people consider that smell is one of the most important senses, that the smell preferred by more than half of the population is the smell of loved ones, or that the smell is a greater reason for rejection than the physical aspect? In addition, many people believe that the aroma is one of the main weapons of seduction.

No matter what you like about a person, the aroma is what makes you fall in love. We may feel attracted to a person by his or her physique, humor, intelligence, or some other quality; however, regardless of the reason, there is always an element that really falls in love with us: the aroma.

Memories linked to smells are usually associated with situations experienced, childhood or familiar people, although some people also associate with visited cities, friends or former couples.

The sense of smell is the sense of memory, so that by feeling the smell of the couple, in the clothes or in the pillow, it immediately evokes the sensation produced by the closeness of that person.

Some studies have revealed that most men remember a woman because of the smell of her perfume, and if they like it, they want to see her again. In the case of women, they are also attracted to a person according to their scent.

Why does this happen?

The reason we are attracted to the aroma is phenylethylamine (FEA), an amphetamine that secretes the body and is involved in falling in love.

When the brain is filled with the substance, it responds by secreting dopamine, a neurotransmitter involved in feelings of desire that acts as a chemical messenger of sexual desire and stimulates the neurotransmitters that cause falling in love.

This mixture causes the lover to stay for hours thinking or talking to the other person because he feels a great excitement. The strength of the aroma is so strong that it is stored in the memory, so when we perceive the fragrance of the couple, our brain reacts and brings the memory of the loved one, which radically changes our mood.
